Pelton turbines are suitable for use in production of electricity where water source has relatively high hydraulic head of 1000 metres or more. The controllability of this type of turbine is very finely adjustable, in which the number of nozzles (water quantity divisible to 6) and the rotational speed is designed so that both the expected minimum and maximum amount of water is taken into account. The efficiency is very high, since the turbine can be very precisely regulated with calculation and design with number of operating nozzles and thus can be operated at the optimum operating point. Due to the specific nature of the high hydraulic heads, it is extremely important to pay special attention to the purity (desanding) of the working water. Even the finest particles in the water lead through the high pressure and the energy converted in the nozzles in speed, to enormous material abrasion (to compare with a grinding wheel).

Neromylos attaches particular importance to the fact that every single case of application is calculated and constructed separately. Subsequent production on our most modern CNC machines guarantees the accuracy of the components in the thousandth of millimeter range. Through this special processing, we are able to produce parts in recurring quality, with one shovel of the other, like an egg to the other. This results in only minor corrections during the subsequent balancing of the impeller. We do not use balancing weights that could fall off over time. Instead, we use computer-controlled balancing machine to determine the position and size of the holes, which removes material where it is required and thus leads to optimal balancing and concentricity results. Each impeller is provided with a balance certificate and documented. The blades (17 to 25 pieces) are screwed onto our patented hub system by means of a screw connection and are secured against loosening. The advantage lies in the interchangeability of individual blades.

As a rule, we use 2 different materials depending on the application:

1) nitrided steel (for Poseidon turbines) – suitable for high head hydropower sites
2) stainless steel (for AGLAI turbines) – suitable for small to medium head hydropower sites, as well as for use in drinking water power plants
